Freight Forwarding Manager

Job specification

Viamaster International Limited, part of the Viamaster Logistics Group, requires an experienced freight forwarding professional to join our team. The ideal candidate will be able to work confidently under pressure and have good decision-making skills in a fast-paced, dynamic freight transport environment.

Position               Freight Forwarding Manager

Reporting to      Operational Management team & Directors

Duties include                 

• Planning of partial and full loads, and express deliveries, to and from European destinations
• Handling sea and air freight shipments worldwide
• Sourcing international equipment and negotiating with hauliers
• Maintaining close contact with overseas partners and agents
• Handling customer queries and providing operational updates
• Managing KPIs for own major clients
• Data entry and document generation
• Providing spot quotations
• Charging of files in preparation for invoicing
• Customs clearance formalities including export/import declarations, GVMS and NCTS

Skills and qualities required

• Experience of European road freight operations (minimum 5 years)
• Extensive working knowledge and experience of customs procedures and documentation
• A solid knowledge of the import and export market
• Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, etc.)
• Good level of administrative skill with an attention to detail
• Confident and effective communications skills (verbal and electronic), with the ability to build relationships with customers
• Customer focussed
• Commercially aware
